95 UNTIL INFINITY

The college football playoff system has been a huge success. I would have preferred 8 teams as oppose to 4 but that will happen eventually. Both semi-final games drew huge ratings, each one drew over 28 million viewers. The only problem I have with the playoffs is I don’t like any of the teams. I know it sounds kind of petty but college football is a regional thing. I’m also not a fan of Oregon, Florida State, Alabama or Ohio State. I don’t like Oregon because I’m a lifelong University of Washington fan and future alum so there is no way I can root for my biggest rival. I will say I admire and respect Marcus Mariota. He’s a guy who I would draft for my team in a second. His Heisman speech tugged at my heartstrings just a bit. I only wish he made the right choice and ended up at UW. The whole Jameis Winston sexual assault situation made me dislike the guy and the school who covered up for him. Plus he comes off as an entitled brat in his press conferences which makes me not like him even more. With Alabama and Ohio State I despise their head coaches. I’ll never forget how Nick Saban, who was the head coach of the Miami Dolphins, blatantly lied to the Dolphins management about not taking the Alabama job. Even though I don’t care about the Dolphins or Crimson Tide I feel he purposely deceived Miami, which is wrong to me. Urban Meyer is one of the slimiest, dirtiest coaches in all of college athletics in my opinion. I’m not saying he’s a bad football coach I just question his ethics. His tenure at Florida was marred with rumors about team chemistry issues. Luckily he had Tim Tebow who soaked up most of the spotlight so the problem players (Percy Harvin and Aaron Hernandez) weren’t focused on very often and the locker room issues were swept under the rug.

Which brings me back to the genesis, who should I root for in the National Championship; Oregon or Ohio State? Of course I could choose to root for no one but where is the fun in that. So I’m going to go with Ohio State. There are 2 main reasons for this decision; one, there is no way in hell a Dawg can ever, under any circumstance root for a Duck and two, I really like the Ohio State marching band and the dotting the “I” tradition. Plus they have done some of the coolest halftime tributes I’ve ever seen.
